A recent national survey found that 1 in 5 Americans were denied doctor‑recommended care in the past year. Many of these denials were labeled “not medically necessary,” even when the treatment was essential for mobility, pain reduction, or daily function.

Orthotic patients are experiencing the same trend.

People are being denied braces, supports, and devices their clinicians prescribe - often without clear explanation and often with serious consequences for their health and independence.

As a clinician, I see this harm firsthand.
